Our service in Burwood Park and Hersham

Hersham is a village in Elmbridge between Walton-on-Thames and Esher, with the River Mole on its eastern side and Hersham Green at its centre. Burwood Park, the private estate laid out on land Henry VIII once kept as a deer park, lies on its western edge, its roads curving around Broadwater Lake and Heart Pond. To the south is Burhill, where a Georgian mansion first built in 1726 serves as the golf clubhouse, and Whiteley Village, the Arts and Crafts retirement village founded on a bequest from the department store owner William Whiteley. We collect from homes across all of them, including houses on the private estate.

Two stations on the South West Main Line serve the area, both run by South Western Railway. Walton-on-Thames, on Station Avenue, is the nearer to Burwood Park and has fast trains to London Waterloo, with lifts to every platform. Hersham station on Molesey Road has a drop-off point but no car park. By road, the A244 and A317 share the Hersham By-Pass, and the A244 carries on east over the Mole at Albany Bridge towards Esher. Heathrow and Gatwick are both motorway journeys, and we choose the route on the day according to the traffic.

Golf fills many weekends here. Burhill has two courses: the Old, designed by Willie Park in 1907, and the New by Simon Gidman, opened in 2001, which has staged Regional Qualifying for The Open. The mansion also takes wedding receptions, and it was in the clubhouse, requisitioned by the Ministry of Aircraft Production in 1940, that Barnes Wallis developed the bouncing bomb. Esher Rugby Club has played in Hersham since about 1939, at its ground on Molesey Road. We cover receptions and dinners at Burhill, family visits to Whiteley Village and the early start before a long-haul flight.

Notable places in Burwood Park and Hersham

  • Private estate

    Burwood Park

A private estate of around 384 homes in Hersham, set around Broadwater Lake; give us the house name and any entry instructions from the household, and the chauffeur follows them.

  • Golf

    Burhill Golf Club

On Burwood Road (KT12 4BX), with the Old and New courses and a Georgian clubhouse that hosts wedding receptions; tell us your tee time or when the evening ends and we set the collection to suit.

  • Private estate

    Whiteley Village

A charitable retirement village of almshouse cottages owned by the Whiteley Homes Trust; share the cottage address and the resident's name when booking so the chauffeur goes straight to the right door.

  • Venue

    Esher Rugby Club

The club's ground and clubhouse are at 369 Molesey Road (KT12 3PF); on match days we agree a meeting point before kick-off so the car is ready after the final whistle.

  • Station

    Walton-on-Thames station

On Station Avenue (KT12 1NR), with a drop-off point and step-free access to all platforms; it is the closest station to Burwood Park and the chauffeur can meet any train.

    Hersham station

On Molesey Road (KT12 4SQ); the platforms sit above the entrance with no step-free route, so tell us about heavy luggage and the chauffeur will help at the steps.

Local knowledge

On the road

  • The A244 and A317 run together along the Hersham By-Pass, and Surrey County Council has used it with Queens Road as a diversion when Hersham Road is closed, so we check roadworks notices before early airport runs.

Questions about Burwood Park and Hersham

Can the chauffeur collect from a house inside Burwood Park?

Yes. Burwood Park is a private estate, so send us the house name and any entry instructions the household provides, and the chauffeur follows them on arrival.

Which station is best for guests visiting Burwood Park?

Walton-on-Thames, on Station Avenue, sits beside the estate and has lifts to every platform. The chauffeur meets the train and drives your guests straight to the house.

Can you drive wedding guests to and from Burhill?

Yes. The clubhouse on Burwood Road hosts wedding receptions, and we can bring guests from local hotels or stations and collect them at the end of the evening.

Is Hersham station suitable for passengers with heavy cases?

Hersham has no step-free access to its platforms, so Walton-on-Thames, which has lifts, is usually easier with luggage. We can meet trains at either station.
