Our service in Ascot
Ascot is far more than its racecourse. North Ascot, South Ascot and the roads towards Sunninghill are home to families who book cars for school runs, airport trips and evenings out, and the town is ringed by heathland golf. Three independent schools draw families from London and abroad: St Mary's School Ascot, a Catholic girls' school on St Mary's Road, Heathfield School on London Road, and LVS Ascot, a day and boarding school further along London Road. Boarding families need a car at the start and end of term and for exeats, often with an airport at one end.
The A329 is the spine of the town. It runs as the High Street past the racecourse between the Station Hill and Heatherwood Hospital roundabouts, then carries on as London Road towards Heathfield and LVS. Ascot station on Station Hill has South Western Railway trains to Waterloo and Reading, but Oyster and contactless cards are not valid there, which catches out visitors from London. Heathrow is the nearest airport, reached from the M4 at junction 6 or the M3 at junction 3, and we pick the better route on the day.
Outside June the racecourse stays busy, with King George Weekend in July, British Champions Day in October and Christmas racing in December, plus conferences, parties and weddings across the estate on non-race days. Golfers book cars for the Royal Ascot Golf Club on Winkfield Road in North Ascot, for Swinley Forest and for The Berkshire on Swinley Road. The Macdonald Berystede on Bagshot Road in Sunninghill hosts meetings and spa stays, and we collect guests from the door for dinners, the races or the airport.
Notable places in Ascot
- Racecourse
Ascot Racecourse
On the High Street (SL5 7JX); on ordinary Ascot racedays the designated taxi drop-off is Car Park 3, so tell us your enclosure and we plan the drop and collection around it.
- Station
Ascot station
The main entrance is on Station Hill with a drop-off and pick-up point, and lifts give step-free access to every platform, which helps with luggage.
- School
St Mary's School Ascot
A Catholic girls' school for ages 11 to 18 on St Mary's Road in South Ascot (SL5 9JF), where most pupils board, so term starts and exeats are the key travel days.
- School
Heathfield School
On London Road; the school gives SL5 8BH as its sat nav postcode, and cars coming from the Ascot side turn in from a filter lane on the right.
- School
LVS Ascot
An independent day and boarding school on London Road (SL5 8DR), with the infant, junior, senior and sixth form divisions on one campus.
- Golf
Royal Ascot Golf Club
On Winkfield Road in North Ascot (SL5 7LJ), on the site of the former Ascot Farm; the course here opened in 2005.
- Golf
Swinley Forest Golf Club
Reached from Bodens Ride and Coronation Road (SL5 9LE); a private club where visitor play is by arrangement, so give us your tee time and we time the drop to it.
- Hotel
Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa
On Bagshot Road, the A330, in Sunninghill (SL5 9JH), a spa hotel with meeting and event rooms close to the racecourse.
Local knowledge
Events in the diary
King George WeekendLate July
Ascot Racecourse
Ascot's main summer meeting after Royal Ascot; book the return in advance, as demand for cars peaks after the last race.
British Champions DayMid October
Ascot Racecourse
One of Ascot's biggest autumn racedays; we agree a collection point at Car Park 3 before racing starts.
Christmas Racing WeekendMid December
Ascot Racecourse
A Friday raceday and a Saturday family jumps raceday; it is dark by the last race, so we fix the pickup spot in advance.
On the road
- During Royal Ascot week the A329 High Street has a 20mph limit, no U-turns and a stopping ban along much of its length, and Winkfield Road runs one way at arrival and departure, so we route local trips that week around the 10:30 to 13:30 and 17:30 to 20:30 peaks.
- For Heathrow we choose between the M4 at junction 6 via the A332 Windsor bypass and the M3 at junction 3, depending on traffic on the day.
Questions about Ascot
Where can you drop me at Ascot Racecourse on a normal raceday?
Outside Royal Ascot the racecourse's designated taxi drop-off is Car Park 3. We drop you there and agree the collection point before the last race.
Can I use Oyster to get to Ascot by train and book you for the return?
Oyster and contactless cards are not valid to or from Ascot station, so buy a rail ticket for the outward leg. You can then book us for the drive home.
Do you cover term-time travel for St Mary's, Heathfield and LVS?
Yes, including start and end of term, exeats and airport runs for boarders. Tell us the boarding house so the chauffeur goes to the right door.
Can you meet my helicopter near Ascot Racecourse?
The racecourse lists a helicopter landing facility close by, open on event and non-event days subject to permission. Send us your landing time and we will be waiting.
Will you meet me at Heathrow and drive me home to North Ascot?
Yes. We track your flight and wait in the arrivals hall with your name on a board. The first 60 minutes after the plane lands are free, airport parking included, and then it is the A332 or M3 home to SL5.
