Our service in Chipping Norton and Kingham

Chipping Norton is a Cotswold market town on a hill, with a market every Wednesday, a sixteenth-century guildhall and the Bliss Tweed Mill as a landmark on its western side. Kingham, to the south-west, has two well-known inns, The Plough on the green and The Wild Rabbit, and the Daylesford farm shop lies just over the Gloucestershire border. Great Tew, a conservation village of ironstone and thatch, has Soho Farmhouse on its edge. We drive residents, weekend guests and visitors across all of them with our own TfL-licensed chauffeurs.

The A44 crosses the town on its way from Oxford to Moreton-in-Marsh, the A361 links Burford with Banbury, and the A3400 starts here for Stratford-upon-Avon. Lorries on the A44 and A361 pass through Horsefair, where the road narrows too much for wide vehicles to pass each other. The town lost its own railway in 1962, so Kingham station on the Cotswold Line is now the main stop, with direct trains to London Paddington. Heathrow is the usual airport for the area, reached by the A40 and the M40.

Weekends bring arrivals for Soho Farmhouse, The Wild Rabbit and The Kingham Plough, and long lunches at Daylesford. Heythrop Park near Enstone combines a hotel, a golf course and wedding rooms on an estate whose grounds date from the early eighteenth century. In town, The Theatre on Spring Street produces its own pantomime every winter. We can meet the train at Kingham, collect from Heathrow, or wait through a long evening and drive you home afterwards.

Events in the diary

  • Chipping Norton pantomimeMid November to mid January

    The Theatre Chipping Norton

The theatre creates its own panto each winter; we drop you at the door on Spring Street and collect after the curtain.

  • Chipping Norton Mop FairSeptember

    High Street, Chipping Norton

The High Street closes to through traffic for the fair, so we agree a pickup point in town away from the rides.

On the road

  • The A44 and A361 both carry lorries through the centre, and Horsefair narrows so much that wide vehicles cannot pass, so we allow for queues there or route around the town.
  • Kingham, Daylesford and Great Tew are reached on country lanes off the A44 and A361, so we confirm the exact address, not only the village, before the day.

Questions about Chipping Norton and Kingham

Can you drive me to Soho Farmhouse?

Yes, if you are a member or have a booking. It is a private club near Great Tew, so we drive you there on the booking details you give us and collect when you check out.

Will you meet me off the train at Kingham?

Yes. The chauffeur waits at the station with your name and drives you on to Daylesford, The Wild Rabbit, Great Tew or wherever you are staying.

Can we keep a car for a day at Daylesford and the Kingham inns?

Yes. Book the car by the hour and the chauffeur waits while you shop and eat, then moves you on to the next stop.

Which airport is best from Chipping Norton?

Heathrow is usually the choice, by the A40 and M40, and we also cover Luton, Gatwick and Stansted. Every airport pickup includes flight tracking and 60 free minutes after landing, parking included.

Is it slow getting through Chipping Norton town centre?

It can be. Lorries on the A44 and A361 share Horsefair, a narrow stretch where wide vehicles cannot pass. We plan the timing around it, and the fixed price does not change if traffic is slow.
