Our service in Taplow and Hedsor

Taplow is the most south-westerly village in Buckinghamshire, looking across the river to Maidenhead, and Hedsor sits on a cliff above the Thames near Bourne End. The area is defined by its great houses. Cliveden, once the Astor family's home, is now a National Trust estate with a hotel in the mansion. Hedsor House, a Georgian house in parkland with listed gardens, is hired for weddings, and Taplow Court, the former home of Lord Desborough, now belongs to the Buddhist organisation SGI-UK. We drive guests and residents between all of them with our own chauffeurs.

The A4 Bath Road links Taplow with junction 7 of the M4 and with the river crossing into Maidenhead, and Berry Hill climbs from it towards Cliveden Road. From the north, the A404 and the A4155 through Bourne End lead down past Hedsor. Taplow station, south of the village centre, is on the Elizabeth line, with trains through central London one way and to Reading the other, and Brunel's brick bridge carries the same line over the Thames. Heathrow is the natural airport here, and we track every flight so the chauffeur is in arrivals when you land.

Occasions here centre on the two big houses. Hedsor House holds ceremonies in its domed Centre Hall with receptions in the Ballroom, and the Cliveden Literary Festival brings writers and historians to Cliveden House each October. Hotel guests can be met at Heathrow and driven to the door, and diners from Marlow or London can be collected after a late evening. For a Hedsor wedding, a V-Class can shuttle guests from Taplow House Hotel on Berry Hill, and the chauffeur keeps to the timings the planner sets.

Events in the diary

  • Cliveden Literary FestivalOctober

    Cliveden House

Festival parking is in the Paddock on Cliveden Road with a shuttle to the house, and organisers ask drivers not to follow the National Trust signs, so we use their route.

  • Taplow Court Heritage Open DaySeptember

    Taplow Court

A free open day for the house and grounds; parking on site can fill later in the afternoon, so being dropped at the door saves the search.

On the road

  • From the M4 we leave at junction 7 for the A4 towards Maidenhead, then turn up Berry Hill at the lights for Cliveden Road, the approach the National Trust gives for the estate.
  • For Hedsor House, and for Cliveden from the Marlow side, we come off the M40 onto the A404 and follow the A4155 through Bourne End before turning onto Cliveden Road.

Questions about Taplow and Hedsor

Which Cliveden entrance will the chauffeur use?

Hotel guests go through the main gates opposite the Feathers on Cliveden Road and up the gravel drive to the house. National Trust visitors can also use the woodland car park further along, so tell us which you need.

Can you take us to the Cliveden Literary Festival?

Yes. The festival runs its own car park in the Paddock on Cliveden Road with a shuttle to the house. We follow the organisers' directions and can collect you after the last session.

Can you run guest shuttles for a Hedsor House wedding?

Yes. One or two V-Class cars can loop between Taplow House Hotel, Taplow station and Hedsor Park, timed around the ceremony in the Centre Hall.

Is Taplow on the Elizabeth line?

Yes. Taplow station is on the Elizabeth line, so trains run straight through central London. With luggage or after a late dinner, a car from door to door is often easier.

Will you meet me at Heathrow for a stay at Cliveden House?

Yes. We follow your flight, meet you in the arrivals hall with a name board and drive you to the house. The first 60 minutes after touchdown are free, airport parking included.
