Our service in Beaconsfield

Beaconsfield is really two towns. Old Beaconsfield grew up on the old Oxford road to serve the coach traffic, and the Crazy Bear now trades from a fifteenth-century coaching inn on Wycombe End. The New Town grew up to the north around the station after the railway arrived in about 1900. Families here book cars for the prep schools, Davenies for boys on Station Road and High March for girls on Ledborough Lane, and for Beaconsfield High School, the town's girls' grammar.

The M40 meets the town at junction 2, a signalised roundabout shared with Beaconsfield services, and the A355 runs through on its way between Amersham and Slough. Beaconsfield station on Penn Road is on the Chiltern Main Line to Marylebone, with a large car park and a drop-off point. Heathrow is the nearest airport, and the M40 and M25 take us on to Luton, Gatwick and Stansted. The A40, once the main road from London to Oxford, still runs through the Old Town beside the motorway.

Beaconsfield occasions are often close to home: dinner at the Crazy Bear, a family day at Bekonscot, the first model village in the world, or a visit to the National Film and Television School at the former Beaconsfield Studios. Weddings across the Chilterns, school events and dinners in London make up the rest, and the chauffeur waits with the car so there is no hunt for a taxi late at night. For a group or a family with a pushchair, a V-Class keeps everyone together.

Notable places in Beaconsfield

  • Landmark

    Bekonscot Model Village

On Warwick Road (HP9 2PL); visitors park in St Teresa's church car park on Warwick Road, and coaches are not allowed on the road, so a drop at the entrance is easiest.

  • Hotel

    The Crazy Bear

Hotel and restaurant in a fifteenth-century coaching inn at 73 to 75 Wycombe End in the Old Town (HP9 1LX).

  • School

    Davenies School

An independent day prep for boys aged 4 to 13 on Station Road; the school gives HP9 1AA as its sat nav postcode.

  • School

    High March School

A girls' prep for ages 3 to 11 on Ledborough Lane, with the junior house at number 23 and the upper school at number 3, so tell us which building.

  • Venue

    National Film and Television School

At Beaconsfield Studios on Station Road (HP9 1LG), the former film studios where many directors and technicians have trained.

  • Station

    Beaconsfield station

On Penn Road (HP9 2PJ), run by Chiltern Railways, with a 674-space car park, a drop-off and pick-up point and platforms level with the main entrance.

Local knowledge

On the road

  • M40 junction 2 is a signalised roundabout shared with Beaconsfield services, so London and Heathrow runs from town join the motorway there, and we allow for the lights at busy times.
  • Bekonscot asks larger vehicles to reach St Teresa's car park through the Waitrose car park rather than along Warwick Road, which is the route we use with a V-Class for family groups.

Questions about Beaconsfield

Do you collect from both the Old Town and the New Town?

Yes. The Old Town grew along the old Oxford road and the New Town around the station on Penn Road, so give us the full address and we plan the right route.

Which High March building should I give for a pickup?

High March has two buildings on Ledborough Lane: the junior house at number 23 and the upper school at number 3. Tell us which and the chauffeur goes to the right one.

Can you take our family to Bekonscot?

Yes. A V-Class takes a family with a pushchair, and we drop you near the entrance on Warwick Road and collect when you are ready, so there is no search for a space.

Can I book a car for dinner at the Crazy Bear?

Yes. We drop you at Wycombe End in the Old Town, and the chauffeur waits nearby or returns at a time you choose, with the price fixed before you book.

Will you meet me at Heathrow and drive me home to Beaconsfield?

Yes. We watch your flight times, so a late landing moves the pickup, and the chauffeur meets you in arrivals with a name board. The first hour after touchdown is free, parking included.
