Our service in Sarratt and Chandler's Cross
Sarratt is a village and parish in Three Rivers District, close to the Buckinghamshire border. The River Chess, a chalk stream, runs through Sarratt Bottom, where the conditions suit the only commercial watercress farm in Hertfordshire. The parish has two centres: Church End, around the Church of the Holy Cross, founded around 1190, and Sarratt Green, the long village that grew up from the seventeenth century. John le Carré placed his fictional spy training school here, known as the Nursery.
Chandler's Cross lies to the east, on the edge of Watford, and is best known for The Grove. The Grove's own advice is to use WD17 3NL on a satnav and to come in from the A411 Hempstead Road, not via The Grove Lodge on Fir Tree Hill. Watford Junction is the nearest main line station, with Rickmansworth the choice for Chiltern trains from Marylebone. Junction 18 of the M25 is on the Chorleywood Road, and junctions 19 and 20 serve The Grove, so Heathrow and Luton are both convenient.
The Grove was the seat of the Earls of Clarendon from 1776 until around 1920 and opened as a hotel in 1996. Its 300-acre estate runs down to the Grand Union Canal and the River Gade, and its Kyle Phillips golf course hosted the 2006 WGC-American Express Championship and the 2016 British Masters. Back in Sarratt, The Cock on Church Lane faces Holy Cross Church and serves lunch every day, with a restaurant in its converted barn.

On the road
- For The Grove we follow the hotel's own directions in from the A411 Hempstead Road, because satnavs set to the postal address can lead to the wrong entrance.
- Sarratt Road crosses the M25 on a bridge just outside the village, and junction 18 on the A404 is the nearest way onto the motorway for Sarratt pickups.

Which entrance do you use at The Grove?
We use the main entrance off the A411 Hempstead Road, as the hotel advises, and drive up to the front door. The Grove Lodge on Fir Tree Hill is not the way in.
Can you meet my helicopter at The Grove?
The Grove has a helipad that must be booked in advance with the hotel. Send us your landing time and the chauffeur will be ready to drive you on.
Can you take guests to a wedding at Holy Cross, Sarratt?
Yes. We bring the couple and guests to the church on Church Lane and on to the reception, whether that is The Grove or a venue further afield.
Is Watford Junction or Rickmansworth better for reaching The Grove by train?
Watford Junction has fast trains from Euston, and Rickmansworth has Chiltern trains from Marylebone. We meet either and drive you to the hotel.
Will you collect me from Heathrow and take me to The Grove?
Yes. We track your flight, meet you in arrivals with a name board and drive you to Chandler's Cross. The first 60 minutes after landing are free, including airport parking.
