Our service in Highgate
Highgate sits on a ridge across the Camden and Haringey border, a village built around Pond Square with two big independent schools at its heart. Highgate School teaches mostly on its North Road site in the village, with the junior and pre-prep schools on Bishopswood Road, and Channing School for girls is on The Bank. The village keeps clear of through traffic. The A1 passes to the east as Archway Road, cut in the early 1800s to avoid the steep climb of Highgate Hill, and Highgate tube station lies on that road below the village, on the High Barnet branch of the Northern line. Highgate Hill climbs from Archway past Waterlow Park, with buses stopping outside Lauderdale House. Heathrow, Luton, Stansted and London City are all regular runs for us from N6.
Weddings are the big occasion here. Lauderdale House in Waterlow Park is licensed for ceremonies and has no parking of its own, so a chauffeured car for the couple saves a lot of fuss. In June the Fair in the Square fills Pond Square and South Grove with stalls and music. Highgate Cemetery draws visitors to Swain's Lane all year, and Highgate Golf Club on Denewood Road, founded in 1904, has members right across the village.

Fair in the SquareJune
Pond Square, Highgate Village
Highgate's free annual village fair fills Pond Square and South Grove with stalls and music, so on fair day we pick up on a street clear of the crowds.
On the road
- Archway Road carries the A1 in a cutting east of the village and was built to avoid Highgate Hill, so we use it for most airport runs and only climb into the village at the start or end of the trip.
- Highgate Hill rises at about 1 in 11 from Archway, with buses stopping outside Lauderdale House, so for weddings we set down at the gates and move off promptly rather than block the stop.

Which Highgate School site should I book for?
Senior pupils are taught mainly on North Road in the village. The pre-prep and junior schools are on Bishopswood Road, with the pre-prep entrance first along the road and the junior school entrance further on.
Is there parking at Lauderdale House for our wedding car?
No. The house is inside Waterlow Park and has no car park, only one disabled bay outside the gates. Our chauffeur sets you down at the gate and waits nearby until you are ready to leave.
Where do you drop off for Highgate Cemetery?
On Swain's Lane at the gates. The East Cemetery entrance faces the West Cemetery's main gate, so tell us which side you are visiting or which tour you have booked.
